In the Tang Dynasty, boys were selected on New Year's Eve, wearing hideous masks and wearing red and black clothes.

In the Tang Dynasty, people used to eat "five Xin plates" or "spring dishes" for the new year. They were made of five kinds of vegetables with spicy smell, which were the stale gas that could be divergent from the five viscera of people.

Bai Juyi said, "after the age of the year, the blue tail wine will be pushed back, and then the gum will be advised in the spring." in the Tang Dynasty, the people in the Tang Dynasty also prepared traditional foods and drinks such as glue teeth, leaf wine, and Su Su liquor. The custom was that the elderly drink afterwards, and the last drinker called the "blue tail".


After the new year's day, people in the Tang Dynasty began visiting relatives and friends and invited each other to dinner.
