Western blockade is too fierce, Russia or abolition of import tariffs for textile machinery

With nonwovens and industrial applications Textile industry The widening of the new machinery gap. Russia The government is considering increasing import tariffs on related machinery and equipment.

The sanctions imposed by the western countries on Russia have led to the failure of the main producers of nonwoven and industrial textiles in Russia to import some important high-tech equipment from abroad, which directly threatens the modern production of the industry.

According to recent reports, Russia's equipment can not replace Western products, and domestic enterprises can not produce the relevant equipment that can match western quality.

The representative of the Russian entrepreneurs and industrialists' Union (RUIE) submitted a petition to the Russian government and the central bank asking them to consider cancelling the existing tariff on machinery and equipment.

The current tariff is 5%-10% of the price, and the supplier also needs to pay 18% of the value-added tax.

Alexander Murychev, vice president of RUIE, said that 90% of Russian textile equipment now depends on imports, of which 80% comes from the United States and the European Union. If tariff is abolished, Russian industrial textile output will increase greatly.

He added that this will not only increase the post tax profits of the federal budget, but also help manufacturers return bank loans (which have been soaring in recent months) and provide funding for Industry Research and development.

In 1990s, equipment tariffs were 15-20%, and excessive tariffs led to the proliferation of smuggling. In order to curb smuggling, the Russian government reduced tariffs to 5-10%.

The proposal has been supported by the Russian Ministry of finance. Meanwhile, according to a spokesman for the Ministry of finance, the countries of Eurasian union such as Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan should jointly implement the policy.

Georgi Petrov, vice president of the Russian chamber of Commerce, said the cancellation of import tariffs would help to modernize nonwovens and industrial textiles. In mid 2014, the industry almost stagnated because of the economic crisis and the ruble depreciation in Russia.

He added that the government should create conditions to purchase modern production equipment and promote industrial modernization.

At the same time, Georgi Petrov also said that the main task at present is to abolish tariffs to support the development of the textile industry; secondly, to reduce the interest rate of loans so as to make the enterprises profitable.

Denis Manturov, Deputy Minister of industry and trade of Russia, said textile The nonwovens industry is one of the most promising light industries in Russia. It needs a certain subsidy to enable enterprises to spare the effort to import equipment, components and technologies from abroad.

He also said that later this year, some western countries may increase sanctions against Russia.

However, some Russian analysts have criticized the move. Goltsblat BLP spokesman Elena Belozerova said zero tariffs could cause social problems and lead to insufficient social funds.
